SIA LING LINGShe was born with muscular dystrophy, a condition that weakens her muscles and prevents her from walking normally. After facing much discrimination in her hometown, Ling Ling moved to Kuala Lumpur at age 14 to make a living by selling handicraft. Now married, she works at the Beautiful Gate Foundation, helping others who are disabled. "It was such an encouragement to me. Winning the award was like a sign from God for me to keep on keeping on,” says Ling Ling. “I am now convinced that there is much more in store for me. More people to encourage and changes to bring about."
At the 2007 AYA Awards Night, she performed with the Beautiful Gate Creative Arts Troupe two wheelchair dances that truly inspired and moved every spectator. She has also lived her dream of becoming a radio deejay when she became a part-time announcer with Ai FM.
She is currently training her performing arts troupe for a performance in the Philippines to raise funds for the disabled, orphaned, and poor there. This inspiring lady was also actively involved in motivational talks to students in Kuching and Sibu from 29th March -5th April.
